Who we are

Avon Area Arts was formed in 2005 through the friendship and creative ideas of a few local artists and art supporters. After several successful exhibits to feature area artists of all ages, an association structure was established and a volunteer board of directors was elected. Avon Area Arts is now still solely operated through volunteers with the support of members and patrons.

In 2012, Avon Area Arts achieved 501c3 designation as a nonprofit organization, based in Avon, Minnesota. This designation allows Avon Area Arts to better serve the participating artists and the community through events, scholarships, and resources. Nonprofit status also allows patrons to monetarily support the arts.

Why we are

Pleasantly and surprisingly, there are many talented artists hidden in the Hills of Avon. Avon Area Arts is an association of artists— working in visual arts, dimensional arts, fine crafts, music, literary arts, photography, and others—and those who support the arts.The natural environment and its resources are a natural fit for creative thought.

Most artists are solitary workers and thinkers, but in need of avenues of expression. Opinions and comments from other people inspire new ideas for both the artist and those who experience and are influenced by the art.
